Our mission is to serve as a beacon of social responsibility that transcends generations and leaves a legacy of compassion and service by empowering local charitable organizations that align with Islamic values and principles.
Our story
Uplift Charity began in 2006 by a few individuals that recognized a vast need in the Southern California area. There was very little support, structure, and coordination to assist the Muslim community in need that were living in Southern California. Fast-forward nearly 20 years, and the organization has grown incredibly.
One of the primary drivers that has helped Uplift Charity flourish as a preferred Zakat and Sadaqah distribution organization remains their commitment to provide 100% of Zakat funds directly to those in need. This wonderful structure requires additional support from the community to help fund the operational side. Over the years, Uplift Charity has relied upon the community to provide non-Zakat donations for administration, but this has caused limitations on their ability to help more members of the community.
Why do we need a Foundation?
Foundations have been key for all great communities to ensure that those who have been blessed can provide continued support for long periods of time. A Foundation gathers donations, invests it into various types of conservative investment vehicles, and the fruits those investment gains are then used to provide long-term financial resources. If managed responsibly, it can provide an ongoing stream of funds for many generations and God-willing even longer.
Uplift Charity Foundation has been established by people who are and have been intimately involved with Uplift Charity with a goal to provide the community another opportunity to support the long-term sustainability of the mission and provide donors with an everlasting source of good deeds and blessings even after they have left this world. Another core reason behind the establishment of the foundation is to preserve the tradition of 100% Zakat followed by Uplift Charity for generations to come.
As the needs of our communities evolve and grow, so too must our efforts to address them. Uplift Charity is dedicated to properly staffing the organization with skilled professionals who share our commitment to service. By investing in their team and infrastructure, we can effectively meet the growing needs of our community and expand our reach to other parts of Southern California.
About Uplift Charity Foundation
Welcome to Uplift Charity Foundation, where our mission is to build a long lasting Waqf to provide operational funding for Uplift Charity. Established in 2023, the Foundation is dedicated to raising funds to build a Waqf (foundation) where funds will be invested. The income earned from these investments will provide Uplift Charity operational funds to continue their amazing work, which is taking care of the needy in our community.
The Foundation was founded by several individuals, some of whom came from the original founders of Uplift Charity, and others that have served on the Board for many years. This team of passionate individuals is committed to making a meaningful impact in the Southern California Islamic Community, God-willing.
